About Us

For too long science fiction has been overlooked and disregarded as pulp fiction (not that there's anything wrong with a little pulp), but here at Fully Automated: a Sci-Fi publication, our dedication to the genre has never waned.

Our goal is to be a home for long-time sci-fi fans, and to bring new eyes to the genre. We recognize the amazing potential sci-fi has to tell innovative, moving, and complex stories about issues of identity and humanity - or to simply be a lot of fun!

That’s why from spaceships to cyberpunk to ~technological dread~ we love (and publish!) all types of sci-fi. At our publication, we hope to recontextualize what sci-fi can be, both to the writer and to the audience. We love sci-fi, but we love people more. Bring your unique experiences to your writing, whether it be gender, race, disability, etc. We accept all authors, published and unpublished, student or non-student.

Why Fully Automated?

Right now you may be thinking “Should I apply?” Yes!

“But what if I feel like my writing isn’t good enough?” Submit anyway!

“What if I missed a comma? What if my formatting isn’t right?!” That’s what we’re here for!

We want to read your work because it was written by you! Everyone has something new and meaningful to bring to the genre of sci-fi, and as the editors of Fully Automated, we want you to succeed! However, we can only see your work if you apply at fullyautomatedscifi@gmail.com! If your work is accepted, we will work with you to make your piece the best that it can be!

If you have any questions about the process, just shoot us an email, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can :)

Who are we?

We are a group of interdisciplinary editing students at the University of Denver who love sci-fi. In fact, we love sci-fi so much that we started Fully Automated: A Sci-Fi publication. We’re filling a void at the University of Denver campus (and other college campuses) for writers and readers of hard and soft science fiction.
