Editorial Policies

Our policies....

Here at Fully Automated, we love to see what authors can come up with, but we want to set a few guidelines so we can all have fun here.

First of all, anything you submit must be your own work. We want to give space for new voices and ideas, so please be mindful that plagiarism is not allowed; any work you submit must be previously unpublished. However, if you have written something for a class that has not been published, feel free to submit it.

Additionally, AI can not be your co-author. Any use of AI as an editing tool must be disclosed in your submission email. We may be Fully Automated, but we’re 100% human

Who can submit?

We welcome submissions from everyone across the galaxy! We want to showcase all types of sci-fi, and we want people to feel safe exploring issues of identity in the works they read and write. As such, any work that is found to be discriminatory or hateful upon proper review from our team will not be accepted

What type of content do we accept?

We’re open to showcasing all types of sci-fi content in our publication. We want everyone to be able to explore the full range of human (or alien) experiences in these short stories. To make sure that this is possible, we have set a few content guidelines.

If your story includes any sexual content, please make sure it falls into one of three categories: fade to black, plot important, or non-gratuitous. Similarly, we ask you to refer to these categories when it comes to depictions of violence. All works submitted to our team will be reviewed to make sure they are not gratuitous. More important than the words you use is the context in which you use them and what themes are conveyed through their use. We are okay with R-rated depictions of sex and violence, but we appreciate a heads-up in your submission email.

Additionally, genre blends are allowed and welcomed, as long as the piece still falls into the sci-fi genre. Feel free to include elements of horror or romance or any other genre you want, there’s room for all styles here at Fully Automated

Submit Your Work!

Finally, please only submit complete short stories for consideration by our editors. This means no excerpts of longer pieces. Stand-alone short stories are allowed. Once you have submitted your work to Fully Automated, our review team will either accept or reject your submission. If your work is accepted, our editors will work with you to make any necessary changes before publication.

P.S.: We accept visual art! For more information, look at our submission guidelines!
